?believer? asked:

I have a calico colored turkish angora female……do you think this is rare? She looks exactly like the kitties from the site I gave…and acts like it too……

It’s just that I haven’t seen many turkish angoras around……

Rare as far as I know.

  • Mel:

I wouldn’t say she’s rare. I’ve seen many cats that appear to be turkish angoras. However, they aren’t anywhere near as common as American Shorthairs. Most people don’t pay too much attention to cat breeds, so it can be hard to tell how common certain types are. No matter how common they are, sounds like you have a beautiful pet.

The cat is rare is rare is rare is rare is rare is less well known and you can be proud cause you have special angora that national treasure in its native land.

The color patterns in all breeds not siamese or abysinian so you can have calico persian norwegian forest siberian etc the orange color is recessive and sexlinked almost exclusively to females.

  • MiniPaws:

Yes, purebred turkish vans are pretty rare. They have a fairly small gene pool and there just aren’t a lot of breeders. They are a beautiful cat.

Do you have papers to prove she’s a Turkish Angora? If not, it’s unlikely she is. 97% of the cats on this planet are domestic meaning of no particular breed. And lots of them have tails with longer fur than on their bodies.

Minipaws – Turkish Angoras and Turkish Vans are two different breeds.
