How rare is the Manx(bobtail) cat breed?

I have a 4 year old female black and white Manx. I have researched her breed but always wanted to know how common a Manx was, I really don’t see them very often at all.
I always thought Manx cats were from the Isle of Man, in the Irish Sea between Ireland and England? I’m confused with the Japanese breed what’s the difference?
The time had one they quite common its just birth defect notice them on her farm.
